"Discipline is the bridge between goals and accomplishments"

Welcome to Super Kicks

Super Kicks Martial Arts is a martial arts and training center located in Plainfield, Illinois. Super Kicks opened its doors in August of 2003 to address the need for a traditional Shaolin Kung Fu academy in the southwestern suburbs of Chicago. Currently, we have nearly 200 students and our enrollment continues to grow.  We have classes available in Traditional Kung Fu for Men, Women and Children,  In addition, students at Super Kicks compete in a variety of Combat Sports such as Point Sparring and Kickboxing. Our emphasis is on traditional Shaolin training for modern times. Our goal is to develop well-rounded martial artists by developing well-rounded individuals.

CLASSES

For our Tiny Tigers (ages 3-4), we begin by developing the basic social skills necessary for everyday life.  We stress discipline and focus.  Kicking and punching are secondary to self-restraint, respect for authority and respect.

In addition, our classes help young students set the foundation for physical fitness by improving balance, coordination, flexibility and core strength.  For children this age, the emphasis is first placed upon building character and temperament as well as the foundation for a lifetime of physical fitness.

For our Junior Rangers (ages 5-7), we continue to expand upon basic developmental and social skills.  We maintain the emphasis on discipline and respect.  We believe that children at this age understand rules and seek out structure.  In our controlled but nurturing system, our Junior Rangers begin to explore and expand upon their talents and abilities.  Self-esteem and confidence begin to take shape and grow at this level. Subjects such as appropriate behavior and consequences for chosen behavior are explored at this level.

In addition to mental and social growth, our martial arts classes build a greater awareness of, and need for, physical fitness for our younger students.  Topics such as proper rest, diet, nutrition and different levels of exercise are explored.

For our Youth(ages 8-14), we continue to build upon skills such as leadership and community service while improving their overall fitness level.  Our Youth begin to translate their martial arts into the beginning aspects of effective self-defense techniques and strategies.  Youth classes also cover topics such as bullying, peer pressure and the importance of academic achievement.  With so many factors influencing children of this age, Super Kicks is dedicated to providing our youth with the mental and physical skills necessary to lead productive, happy and fulfilling lives in young adulthood and beyond.

Our Adults(15 and up) receive a broad martial arts curriculum based on time proven methods developed in the Shaolin Monasteries over 2,000 years ago.  All of our classes begin with drills and exercises designed to construct and develop the body to truly understand and utilize Kung fu training.  We then focus on the different aspects of martial arts training such as techniques and forms.  Our training is limitless as we continuously train and practice a seemingly unlimited arsenal of strikes, blocks, stances, self-defense techniques and forms.  In addition, we also focus on stretching and flexibility for our adult students.  No matter your age, physical ability or previous martial arts experience, adult classes at Super Kicks have something for everyone.  Call, email or stop by the school to receive a free, no obligation trial class today.

COMPETITION

For those looking for something more, students at Super Kicks also compete on local, regional and national competition circuits.  Our students and instructors compete in nearly every aspect of combat sports such as Point Karate, Kickboxing, Olympic Style Tae Kwon Do, Submission Grappling and Mixed Martial Arts.  Super Kicks is home to champions as well as professional athletes.  The head instructors at Super Kicks compete in various tournaments and events to show the importance and value of healthy competition in all aspects of life.  It is crucial that parents and students understand that competition, on some level, is a part of everyday life.  We compete with others to go to college, to play on the high school football team, to get a job and to advance or professional careers.  Although we never force any of our students to compete in martial arts tournaments, we provide them with the skill and support necessary to do so.

In addition to regular tournaments and combat sports, Super Kicks will initiate a new program for our serious athletes in 2008.  Through our recently formed Competition Team,  many of our younger athletes will receive sponsorship for local businesses to help off-set the cost of competing on the national level. Several of our students will have the opportunity in 2008 to compete and try out for spots in several organizations such as the United States Tae Kwon Do Association.   Contact us for more information if you or your child is interested in martial arts competition or if you would like to sponsor one of our young athletes for the upcoming year.

We invite you to check out our website for additional information on our school, classes, schedule and upcoming events.  Please contact us to speak with a staff member or to schedule your free introductory class.   Thank you for visiting Super Kicks Martial Arts Academy and we hope to see you soon!
